I've just discovered that trying to write both a chapter of my book and a chapter of Letting the Light In is a very bad idea.
Why?
Because it results in the rather hilarious incidence of my Gabriel snapping his fingers, something he can't actually do because Amber one crushed his hand with a metal door by accident (only accidental because she was actually trying to crush someone else's hand.)

In other news, I've had one job interview yesterday and there's going to be another on Sunday. Woo, maybe I'll finally get a job. Bloody better. I'm young, broke, and my mum won't stop moaning at me. Apparently I'm trying, I've handed out a billion CVs. I've filled in about a hundred applications just isn't good enough.

I'm waiting for Neil Gaiman's American Gods to be sent out and I can't wait to read it.

If one more person (especially one who's related to me) suggests Twilight to me, I'm going to punch them. The number of times I've said how much I hate them and their idea of vampires should be more than enough for them to know that I hate them.

Things I have to/ will do at some point in the near future:
  • Finish the bloody book. Seriously, it's all planned out, I know what I'm going to write, it's just sitting on my butt and actually typing that's the problem.
  • Finish chapter three of Letting the Light In (It's going up tomorrow. Seriously, I'm evicting the thing from my brain at this rate.)
  • Get started on chapter four of Letting the Light In. Everything starts picking up in it and I can't wait. :-)
  • Apply for more jobs (I need the money for uni next year.)
  • Convince my cousin to let me practice driving in her car now I've been around the Roundabout of Doooom!
  • Actually remember the birthdays of family members.
  • Pack for Nairn.
  • Celebrate discovering my DVD player doesn't discriminate between regions by buying North Beach.
  • Hope the weather here in Bonnie Bloody Scotland gets a little colder so I can wear my rainbow scarf and fingerless gloves without getting funny looks.
  • Read 'American Devil.'
  • Decide if I'm going to buy some books about Norse Mythology instead of reading it online (and beg my mum for money if I do want to buy them.)

You wouldn't guess from this, but my organisation in everything but writing is atrocious.

crime_and_ink: (Book 1)

Here's the thing. I told myself that I would have the first book in the Birchwood Series finished by August or September and, although I have 13/36 chapters finished and most of the others started, I'm started to put things off. It's not that I don't love writing about the plot and the characters- I do, I really do- it's just that after this long, it's hard to judge if I'm happy with what I'm writing, or if I'm not doing as well on some chapters because I'm sick of seeing the bloody things.
I don't find it easy to judge my own scenes, mainly because you're never exactly thrilled by what you've written. One chapter (which can be read here: http://authonomy.com/ReadBook.aspx?bookid=9176&chapterid=105779#chapter ) was still bugging me when I uploaded it, but people told me that they really liked it.

There are also bits that bug the hell out of me anyway. This books is quite possibly the most police-force focused book in the series (the later books delve into the world of the private investigators). There are a few interviews which, although I like writing them (my favourite has to be the Gerry McPherson one in the above chapter) are one of the few parts I'm not keen on.

Here's the extent of my prcrastination: cleared out my MP3 player, cleared out my music files on my laptop; deleted duplicated tracks; put all music into one folder; created a subfolder for each artist; watched an episode of Supernatural; typed this; bought a trench coat; applied for jobs; went shopping.
I'm contemplating clearing out my montrousity of a bookcase (books occasionally fall off and wake me in the middle of the night), cleaning my room, watching another Supernatural DVD.

Okay, maybe I am.
